We are seeking a Firmware Engineer to join our imaging customer in Stelrling, VA. The position will be responsible for the firmware and electronics associated with microscopy related products. Activities will primarily be coding, testing and debugging these systems to meet ever changing customer requirements. This position requires troubleshooting complex electronics and system problems, and being committed to customer satisfaction. Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:Design and develop electronics for precision scientific instruments and peripheralsDevelop firmware to control and monitor a number instruments within one integrated systemTake a design from an initial concept through prototyping, debugging and manufacturing phasesWork with customers to diagnose problems or develop novel solutions to their needsTroubleshoot and resolve electronics related system issuesManage electronics engineering documentation and material specificationsDevelop test fixtures for manufacturing75% will be focused on Embedded Software and FPGA Programming25% will be focused on PCB Layout, Design, and TroubleshootingThis person is going to be programming in Embedded C and the FPGA for a microscope 75% of the time and doing PCB work the other 25% of the time. It can switch from time to time depending on where they are on certain projects but people who want to only do PCB will not work in this role.Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Scientific Instrumentation, or related degrees3+ years' experience with electronics design for motion control, robotics, or kinematic systems.Experience in embedded programming (Embedded C, FPGA, CPLD, and RTOS)Experience with schematic reading and circuit exploration for debugging purposes (Altium software a plus)Preferred Qualifications:Experience computer level software for interfacing to motion control systemsExperience with standard lab diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, DAQ systems, interferometers, power supplies etc.Experience with OpenCV in embedded systems is a plusAbout Aerotek: We know that a company's success starts with its employees.
