Provides technical advice and guidance on installation, adaptation, configuration, and/or enhancement of company technical products, programs, and systemsThe Field Engineer is responsible for procedural input to the planning, preparation, and execution of all projects. Must have the ability to complete complex assignments without direction and direct those engineers that are more junior. Ensures that systems are implemented in a tight time frame. Additional Field Engineer duties shall include but are not limited to the following: Evaluate sites for the installation of equipmentTest and evaluate equipment prior to deployment in a lab environmentInstall applicable equipment (with racks if needed)Perform onsite testing of equipment and coordinate with other engineersInstall and connect applicable cables Coordinate pick-up and delivery of equipment Troubleshoot network connectivity issuesRequired:Experience in IP Related Services: TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, PPP, and SIP (Desired)Experience installing, maintaining, and configuring Cisco routers and switchesExperience installing, maintaining, and configuring information technology/LAN systemsExperience with UPS systems and AC/DC power systems, to include installation/connection (Desired)Working knowledge of CAT 5 and CAT 6 cable, connectors, and demonstrated capability of fabricating required equipmentExperience using Remedy, VISIO, and MS OfficeDesired:Experience in satellite communication systems is a plus.Experience as a TISO or TACSPEC is a plus MS or a combination or education and work experience 10+ years as an engineer/field engineer supporting technical programs For more than 50 years, General Dynamics Information Technology has served as a trusted provider of information technology, systems engineering, training and professional services to customers across federal, state, and local governments, and in the commercial sector.
