The Divisional Senior Vice President of Cardiovascular Services is responsible for developing and aligning the strategic vision and infrastructure to successfully build and execute clinical programs of extraordinary quality that will drive growth, operational efficiency and financial performance, ensuring that Sentara is the premier destination for cardiac services in all the communities Sentara serves.

The Divisional Senior Vice President will need to be able to work in highly matrixed organization. A successful candidate must feel comfortable working in that environment. In collaboration with the Divisional Presidents, this position will have shared responsibility for strategic planning and development of cardiovascular services across the system. In collaboration with the Divisional Presidents, he/she will have shared responsibility for volume growth in each Division as well as market share growth. He/she will work closely with the other executives to develop and execute well defined business strategies and operating plans to support the Divisions. This executive will have a focus on improving the financial performance of the cardiac business units, assisting Divisional Presidents in meeting their budgets, and aggressively developing new business opportunities.

Qualifications

Education Level
Master's degree health administration or business administration is required.

Experience
5 years of relevant for-profit and/or not-for-profit health care experience. Demonstrated success as an executive of a mature health care business who has attained superior results in competitive and/or difficult reimbursement markets; Proven experience in building and managing profitable multi-site and multi-service businesses; Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans in a clearly articulated manner; Strong orientation toward client service, quality improvement, team building and profitability; Demonstrated strength in physician communication/leadership and ability to integrate physicians into an emerging, ongoing or traditional business; Demonstrated ability to excel in a business development capacity; Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; Proven ability to select, develop and mentor top talent, and create a productive environment that promotes initiative, innovation and continual learning; The proven ability to build and maintain a strong operating organization reinforcing the mission and culture of the enterprise exemplified by uniform standards and consistent performance; A high energy level and ability to respond to the challenges of managing an operation in a highly competitive and fast-growth market.
