Directs overall administration of the institution or region to assure quality patient care and service within the fiscal and philosophical guidelines of the organization. Determines the strategic direction and guides all functions necessary for current and continuing effectiveness.

The Corporate Vice President (CVP) functions as the lead executive responsible for establishing and achieving the region's short and long term objectives for the overall viability of the organization. The CVP directs overall administration of the Blue Ridge Region to assure quality patient care and service within the fiscal and philosophical guidelines of the organization.   • E nsures the provision of safe high quality patient care and patient experience, attracting both physicians and patients with a sincere emphasis on Sentara Healthcare's dedication to customers and their satisfaction;
  • Pr ovides strategic and tactical leadership relating to planning, improvement of care delivery models, efficiency of multiple service lines across multiple divisions and across the care continuum, and assessment and evaluation of operational effectiveness.
  • Initiates or participates in development of marketing plans/strategies for the region and the system.
  • Oversees capital and operating budgets to include initiating corrective action(s) when substandard financial performance occurs.
  • Ensures the maximization of efforts around cost control related to patient care through continuous evaluation of resource allocation; achieving or exceeding regional/divisional financial plans.
  • Ensures regional/divisional facilities are adequate to allow for the implementation of programs and services.
  • Maintains liaison relationships between regional/divisional management/medical staff and other healthcare-related organizations in order to foster cooperative relationships and establishes control systems for the most effective operation of Sentara Healthcare.
  • Represents Sentara in community, state, and national forums.
  • Works to communicate and reinforce a vision for the system that emphasizes strong and effective physician and employee relationships.
  • Leads and fosters the creation of new business opportunities, which ensures a responsiveness to healthcare reform and changing reimbursement patterns.
  • Communicates openly and effectively internally and externally with a wide variety of individuals to ensure that needs are being met and the reputation is enhanced, while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Builds a strong collaborative relationship with external health and wellness providers which are important to developing the continuum of care for improving community health.
  • In collaboration with other CVPs communicates and promotes the priorities for divisions of responsibility respecting the overall direction and mission of the organization.
  • Supports the Sentara Quality Care Network.
  • Supports and/or oversees various physician engagement activities across all venues of care.
  • Collaborates with other Sentara operating divisions to develop all regions and levels of care.


Qualifications

Education Level
Master's Level Degree: MBA or MHA

Experience
Required: Executive Healthcare Position - 10 years
