Research Faculty / Postdoctoral Position

The College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) at George Mason University is seeking a faculty member/postdoc in pediatric sports medicine whose research is focused on the intersection of public health, school policy, telehealth, epidemiology, injury and concussion risk reduction, and clinical outreach. The individual serving in this position will be assigned to the Sports Medicine Assessment Research and Testing (SMART) Laboratory and will work with Professor Shane Caswell on the Virginia Concussion Initiative and Advancing Health Care Initiatives for Underserved Students (ACHIEVES) projects.

Responsibilities: In particular, the work will focus on school health policy, telehealth, and injury surveillance to inform risk reduction strategies and interventions to improve outcomes and care for school age children and communities.

Required Qualifications: * Earned PhD in public health, athletic training, kinesiology, epidemiology, health behavior or related discipline * Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications: * Strong interest and in pediatrics sports medicine and concussion research * Demonstrated scholarly and grant writing abilities * Proficiency in statistical analysis and database management * Experience in school health policy and program evaluation * Experience with telehealth * Clinical experience working as an athletic trainer in public school settings

Benefits and Compensation Information: We offer a competitive salary and benefits package. Compensation will be commensurate with experience. The start date will be in 2020. Potential for renewal.
