Key Role:

Serve as a Healthcare Informaticist/Terminologist and support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program through the application of standards, terminology, and clinical knowledge to promote semantic interoperability between the DoD and VA as the Departments transition to a shared EHR. Review and create terminology maps and participate in the evaluation of clinical information systems within the electronic health record (EHR) arena. Assess information and knowledge-based needs of healthcare professionals and patients and provide guidance and services that promote communication and interoperability of health data between DoD and VA. This position has the ability for remote delivery.

Basic Qualifications:

-15 years of professional experience

-4 years of experience in a clinical or informatics work environment

-Experience in introducing new hardware or sof tware into a new or existing environment while minimizing disruption and mitigating risks

-Experience with recognized national standards, including RxNorm, SNOMED, Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINCs), Current Procedure Terminology (CPT), CVX, Health Level 7 (HL7), and National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP)

-Knowledge of database and file management, including MS Excel and MS Access, or SQL

-Ability to create strategies and plans for integration of multiple IT systems and subsystems into an operational unit, ensuring full functional and performance capabilities are retained

-Ability to coordinate with development and us er teams to assess risks, goals, and needs and ensure that all are adequately addressed

-Ability to demonstrate cost conscience when addressing goals

-BA or BS degree in CS, Engineering, or Math or 8+ years of professional experience in lieu of degree

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience in the VA

-Experience implementing electronic health records

-Experience with VA or DoD health IT systems and data structures

-Possession of strong consulting and teamwork skills
