The Single-Family Strategic Delivery group is seeking a Managing Consultant with management consultant experience, preferably in financial services, to work with internal customers in a consulting capacity. This individual will be part of an internal consulting services team within the Strategic Delivery organization that will support efforts to help clients define strategy, improve business efficiency & effectiveness and solve complex problems using industry best practice tools & methodologies. The work can be challenging, complex and strategic. The position requires a seasoned professional who can leverage their expertise to effectively understand the problem, break down a plan and craft creative and appropriate solutions to our Customer's challenges.

Your Work Falls into Three Primary Categories:

Strategic Consulting

  • Strategic analysis of current-state activities identifying existing gaps, opportunities or strategic changes that drive business improvement
  • Working on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational strategic objectives
  • Regularly interacting with senior management on matters concerning change initiatives across several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers

  • Ability to lead a consulting engagement and coach consultants through the engagement
  • Establishing engagement objectives and work/project plans
  • Gaining acceptance from senior and executive management of customers on change initiatives, in a manner that enhances of the overall relationship value between customers and Freddie Mac
  • Developing and maintaining consulting methodologies and tools used by the team
  • Operating with a high-level of autonomy

Operational Transformation
  • Ability to conduct current state analysis and effective at getting to the root problems
  • Developing and communicating a target-state operating model that addresses identified operational objectives, gaps and opportunities, as well as analysis that supports the recommendation
  • Leveraging best practice methodologies, tools and techniques
  • Executing change initiatives that will promote the target-state operating model and lead others to adopt


  • Subject matter knowledge of the primary or secondary mortgage market with practices, policy and regulations ranging from mortgage origination lifecycle through servicing/default
  • Management consulting experience with a professional consulting firm
  • Robust analytical and research skills
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Leadership/Management experience
  • Superior oral and written communications skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across a broad range of organizational levels
  • Ability to create presentations at an executive level
  • Demonstrated business acumen, problem solving skills, intellectual maturity, and relationship management skills
  • Ability to work with limited direction
  • Track record of applying appropriate tools & method (Design Thinking, Agile, Six Sigma, Lean, PROSCI) to solve problems and arrive at creative solutions
  • Ability to work effectively with continuous change and short deadlines
  • McLean based with occasional travel
