Responsibilities

All candidates who are:
Current or former federal employees qualifying as Status Eligibles , Federal employees currently serving on a VRA, VEOA eligibles , CTAP/ICTAP eligibles, eligible for special hiring authorities (e.g., the Schedule A appointment for persons with disabilities, or covered by an Interchange Agreement), or VRA eligible GS-9/11 only OR Land Management employees eligible under Public Law 114-47 .

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
  • Responsible for review and adjudication of completed Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and Bureau of Engraving and Printing investigations and at times, Suitability Investigations to determine Applicant's Contractor's and incumbent's suitability for employment, continued employment and access to the Bureau and/or it's products and/or processes.
  • Responsible for preparing and screening cases for action by the supervisor.
  • Independently apply security adjudicative guidelines in order to adjudicate cases requiring initial eligibility for issuance of a national security clearance or retention in a position requiring a security clearance.

The experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. SUITABILITY, CLEARANCE & REQUIREMENTS: A background investigation will be required for all new hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for disqualification in the hiring process. The background investigation process conducted by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing is very thorough. Therefore it is imperative that applicants exercise candor and honesty when answering background questionnaires, especially as it relates to arrest, employment, education, finances, illegal drug use, and/or other criminal history. Falsification discovered in security documents or during the background investigation process may result in an immediate negative suitability determination or immediate revocation of your interim clearance (if applicable).

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience:

For the GS-12
, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Experience adjudicating and reporting background security investigations in accordance with all applicable guidelines.
Examples of Such experience include:
-Analyzing results of investigative findings to make adjudicative determinations. OR
-Completing adjudicative reports. OR
-Applying security adjudicative guidelines in order to adjudicate cases requiring initial eligibility of a national security clearance.

For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Experience adjudicating and reporting background security investigations in accordance with all applicable guidelines.
Examples of Such experience include:
-Completing adjudicative reports. OR
-Applying security adjudicative guidelines in order to adjudicate cases requiring initial eligibility of a national security clearance.
OR
You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, if related.
OR
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, if related.
OR
LL.M., if related.

For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience adjudicating and reporting background security investigations in accordance with all applicable guidelines.
Examples of Such experience include:
-Analyzing results of investigative findings to make adjudicative determinations.
OR
You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: Master's or equivalent graduate degree, if related.
OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, if related.
OR
LL.B. or J.D., if related.

OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:

For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-11, you must have been at the GS-09 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-09, you must have been at the GS-07 level for 52 weeks.

Education

Education Requirements:

The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
