About the Position: This position is for an Oncology Pharmacy Technician located in the Directorate for Clinical Support, Department of Pharmacy, Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy, at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cytotoxic chemotherapy intravenous admixtures that requires calculations and conversions to prepare strengths and doses of medications ordered.
• Process and fill medication orders that requires knowledge of chemotherapy medications.
• Responsible for monitoring cleanroom humidity and pressure to ensure that appropriate conditions are maintained.
• Inventory control management.
• Preparation and maintenance of various logs, records, and reports.
• Work with supervisor to meet requirements from regulatory agencies or accreditation.

• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual season influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempt for medical or religious reasons.
• This position is covered by the Department of Defense Civilian Employee Drug-Free Workplace Program as a Testing Designated Position (TDP).
• This position may require the incumbent to work on any shift, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, or on an on-call/as-needed basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
• This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing (compounding) drugs and sterile products (such as antineoplastic agents used in chemotherapy and investigational drugs); making required calculations and conversions to prepare appropriate strength and doses of medications; maintaining sterile processing and clean room; and ordering supplies for pharmaceuticals. . This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Pharmacology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
