Freddie Mac has established a Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Center of Excellence (COE) to support our business partners' objectives to increase business process efficiency, improve quality, reduce operational risk, and reduce development time to market through automation. The RPA COE team is responsible for the architecture, design, development and support of all process automations at Freddie Mac. In addition to process automation, the COE also works closely with business areas to identify additional and/or alternative solutions to support their processes including but not limited to business process management (BPM), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), and Natural Language Processing (NLP).

The RPA COE is looking for a team player with a positive attitude who is willing to creatively tackle automation solutions and challenges on the daily basis. As a member of the IT development team, this individual will independently develop automation from feasibility analysis through solution delivery and production support. The individual must champion new technology, support organizational change and process improvement. The individual must be a role model and a technical mentor to junior and mid-level developers, work collaboratively with business and technology teams, with an open mind, seek and embrace change, and go above and beyond core job responsibilities to support our business customers.

Your Work Falls into Three Primary Categories:

Automation and Support
The ideal candidate will work across the various lines of business and technology partners to develop processes automations. The candidate will be an integral part of the core team, supporting the full lifecycle of process automations including design, development, integration, QA, UAT, regression testing, stress testing, and production support.
  • Partner with division RPA champions to identify and understand process opportunities, assess automation feasibility, estimate development complexity and timelines, and support development resource planning needs.
  • Research and analyze business problems to determine suitable intelligent automation solutions available in the market.
  • Communicate with business customers, strategic partners, and development teams on all aspects off process automation at technical and non-technical communication levels appropriate for a given situation.
  • Design and develop efficient automation processes with well-structured and easily maintainable code.
  • Identify and address risks and issues and provide actionable plans to mitigate.
  • Support existing process automations and implement new requirements and code enhancements using an Agile change control process.
  • Create and maintain solution documentation in a timely fashion as requirements by enterprise methodologies.
  • Troubleshoot development roadblocks, environment issues, and production issues and issue resolution with business and development teams.

Best Practice Research and External Support
  • Enhance existing Design Standards and Coding Guidelines to streamline the design, development, and release process.
  • Identify and standardize repeatable development and release processes.
  • Propose, pilot, and implement innovative and efficient automation solutions.
  • Proactively identify technical and system integration challenges and work with other teams (security architects, DBA's, integration specialists, subject-matter-experts, etc.) through issue resolution.
  • Learn and adapt to new tools and technologies.

Team Management and Leadership
  • Ensure team is operating in the most effective way possible and have the appropriate level of skills and capabilities to be successful
  • Work and train new and/or junior members of the team.
  • Peer review automation implementations developed by other team members.


  • 2 to 4 years of software development and automation experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired.
  • Good knowledge of process automation industry leaders including their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Minimum 2+ Hands years of experience with RPA tools such as Automation Anywhere preferred including coding development/debugging, infrastructure administration (Control Room), and Metabot / API development.
  • Strong Windows scripting, VB, or C# experience required.
  • Proven information architecture skills, specifically related to Automation capabilities, along with thorough understanding of inter-relationships between interfaces.
  • Thorough understanding of core IT infrastructure (operating systems, security credentials, web servers, mail servers, proxies, etc.)
