Responsibilities

Are you interested in serving those who have willingly sacrificed their lives for our country? We are looking for a Pulmonary and Critical Care Physician with a wide variety of experience. Proficiency in Endobronchial ultrasound and/or Sleep certification would be an added bonus.

• Provides patient care to Veterans in the areas of Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Sleep Medicine and Critical Care in the form of primary and/or consultative care.
• Incumbent serves as the primary attending in a closed Medical ICU manned by house staff.
• Evaluate Pulmonary (and sleep) consults both inpatient and outpatient, with appropriate responses to provide to the consulting party.
• Keeps informed of developments in the management and treatment of diseases and illness through continuing medical education, both formal and informal.
• Incumbent has teaching responsibilities towards medical students, residents and Pulmonary and Critical care fellows on both the consult and ICU services.
• Incumbent provides medical diagnostic evaluation and initial assessment of patient which includes focused history, physical examinations and pertinent laboratory investigations.

Work Schedule: 7:45 am to 4:30 pm with added coverage as required for patient care

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/28/2020.
Basic Requirements:

• United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
• Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
• Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
• Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Physical requirements outlined below.

Preferred Experience: The selected Physician will be board eligible/board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care, with a strong emphasis and preference placed on board certified Pulmonary/Critical Care Physicians.
