As a Senior Project Engineer (Utilities Lead) you will perform specialized technical and managerial aspects of engineering assignments associated with Utilities Engineering, including evaluation, planning, design, and construction services associated with utility design. Work includes design coordination for extension and relocation of both wet (water and wastewater) and dry (telecom, electric, gas) utilities. The ideal candidate will have the ability to serve as a responsible technical lead, performing technical tasks and coordinating the use of resources to accomplish multiple, concurrent infrastructure projects. The candidate will also be able to serve as project manager responsible for management of scope, schedule, budget, and technical direction of complex utility planning and design infrastructure projects. Specifically, the candidate will be expected to do the following: * Leads engineering and managerial efforts for planning, design, and engineering services during construction. Contributes individually or as the leader of a design team; prepares, and/or reviews plans, technical specifications, contract documents, calculations, and estimates. Prepares technical reports and presentations. Drives resolution and coordination of design issues as a part of a large, multi-disciplinary design team. Serves as a liaison between clients, agencies / utility owners, subcontractors, and design teams. This includes technical leadership for utilities design for Design Build projects for municipal and state transportation projects. * Supervises the work of engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to various projects. Mentors office staff. Supports employee development activities in line with the company's career development programs and to help people reach their full potential. * May assist client/owner in development of utility relocation agreements. * Supports the Bellevue Water Group Leads and Sales Leads in identifying and tracking pursuits and assist in developing and implementing capture plans for water and wastewater pursuits. Participates in preparation/delivery of proposals and presentations to support business development activities. * Assists the Water Group Lead, Office Manager, and Sales Leads in achieving targeted fiscal growth, quality, safety, business development, personnel development, and other goals as may be defined in the future. #bia Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering * Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) is required. If not Washington State PE, must be able to obtain this within one year of hire. * Minimum of 15 years of overall progressive civil engineering experience, with 5-years minimum experience in utilities planning and design of conveyance systems (water, wastewater, and stormwater) * Demonstrated ability to lead the design and preparation of utilities construction plans, details, specifications, estimates, studies, proposals and/or reports * Experience in working with and directing multi-disciplinary teams of both in-house and external team members to accomplish complex utilities-related engineering planning, and design assignments * Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all staff levels in a professional manner * Possess time management skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks In addition to the above requirements, the below qualifications are preferred: * Work within the Western Washington and Puget Sound region * Experience with dry utility relocations (telecom, electric, and gas) * Experience leading utilities design efforts for Design / Build projects in the state of Washington * Proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D At Jacobs, we help prepare people for new opportunities and challenges.
