Summary

The position is located in the Legal Activities Group (LAG) or Law Enforcement Group (LECG) within the Department of Justice (DOJ), Justice Management Division, Budget Staff. The Budget Staff serves the DOJ and the Attorney General as the experts in a wide range of budget and program issues affecting the Department, and represents the Department in budget matters before various outside organizations such as the Office of Management and Budget and congressional. staff.

Responsibilities

As a Budget Analyst (GS-0560-9/11), your typical work assignments or responsibilities may include the following:
  • Performs budget execution duties related to major agency programs.
  • Consolidate annual and multi-year departmental budget estimates.
  • Assist in budget formulation, presentation, and execution services and documentation.
  • Use financial systems to review information and data being used to generate forecasts..
  • Compile narrative reports and statistical material and related background information for use in briefing officials.

    Qualifications

    To qualify for the position of Budget Analyst at (GS-0560-9/11), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade.
    If you are a current government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade.

    Specialized Experience:

    You may qualify at the GS-09 level, if you meet the following qualification requirement:

    A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the federal service that demonstrates your ability to 1) preparing budget documents; 2) using automated financial management systems; and 3) compiling data in charts, graphs, and spreadsheets
    B. Have a master's or equivalent graduate degree; or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree as (Accounting, Business Admin, and Financial Management or closely related)
    C. A combination of education and experience listed above.

    OR

    Y ou may qualify at the GS-11 level, if you meet the following qualification requirement:

    A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the federal service that demonstrates your ability to
    GS-11: 1) preparing and compiling budget estimates; 2) using automated financial management systems and databases; and 3) compiling data in charts, graphs, and spreadsheets
    B. Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree as (Accounting, Business Admin, and Financial Management or closely related)
    C. A combination of education and experience listed above.
