Summary

This position is located in the Department of Commerce, Office of the Secretary, Washington, District of Columbia. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Maintenance Mechanic providing maintenance and repairs to Herbert C. Hoover Building.

Responsibilities

  • Assist higher graded maintenance workers or tradesman.
  • Maintain and operate HCHB plumbing systems, fixtures, fittings, fan coils, and equipment.
  • Perform repairs to doors, masonry, roofs, windows, walls, ceilings and small HVAC equipment.
  • Repair plumbing systems, fixtures, fittings, and equipment.
  • Perform semi-skilled general maintenance, repair, auditing and construction tasks incident to the upkeep of the building.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience WG-08: There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Examples of such experience include:
  • Repairing plumbing systems, fixtures, fittings and equipment
  • Conducting preventive maintenance on building equipment
  • Performing drywall repairs and painting

How You Will Be Evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
