Octo Consulting is seeking an experienced Training Specialist to join our growing team. As the Training Specialist you will be responsible for directly supporting a collaborative training related initiative with our Government customer as well as both Government and Contractor subject matter experts. The training initiative purpose is to ensure that processes and procedures for activities related to pension benefits can be transferred to new staff joining the program at various levels of experience. The training specialist will be required to inventory existing training materials, processes and resources. As necessary, the training specialist will support updating existing and/or creating training items. These items are both IT and non-IT subject matter related. The Training Specialist may be required to support identification and execution of training roll-out activities. Responsibilities may include Work in a collaborative setting with Government leads and Subject Matter Experts to execute training initiative activities. Create an inventory of existing training materials. Assess gaps in (or deficiencies with) current training materials. Lead collaborative efforts to update existing and/or develop new training materials, such as; handbooks, demonstration models, tutorials and reference guides. Lead collaborative efforts to construct key training program artifacts such as a Training Program Roadmap and Schedule. Support the identification of a mechanism to measure and ensure key skills, tools and experience levels are achieved. Provide training to new staff to successfully implement all activities identified. 6+ years of professional experience. 3 years training experience consistent with responsibilities described above. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong meeting facilitation and presentation skills. Excellent organizational and planning skills. Knowledge of principles and methods to design adequate training for individuals and groups. This includes actionable methodologies to measure training effectiveness and advancement of individuals or groups throughout a training initiative. Demonstrated experience with reviewing, creating and editing both technical and non-technical documents, such as; user manuals, training materials, reference guides, and custom reports. Ability to translate complex, detail oriented procedural and exploratory activities as well as technical functions in to easy-to-understand, organized, clear and concise training materials. Demonstrated experience with various training tools and platforms. Ability to interact with both Government and Contractor leadership and staff at all levels. Strong problem solving and root cause identification skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite programs (specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Preferred Experience and Qualifications Previous working experience and/or interest with Defined Benefit Pension Funds. Relevant coursework in communications, writing, instructional design, training methodologies or related courses. Previous experience providing training support to pension fund staff. Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent. Clearance Requirement: Must be a United States citizen or possess alien status in the United States and be able to pass a Public Trust Government background investigation Location of Work: Washington, DC
