The Kennedy Center, which opened on September 8, 1971, is located on 17 acres overlooking the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. The Center continues its efforts to fulfill President Kennedy's vision by producing and presenting an unmatched variety of theater and musicals, dance and ballet, orchestral, chamber, jazz, popular, world, and folk music, and multimedia performances for all ages.

Job Description:

Our media brand extends the Center's mission to your screens with on-demand access to world class, diverse performing arts from our physical stages and beyond. We are seeking a part-time Media Production Specialist to join our in-house Multimedia team. Our nightly Millennium Stage broadcasts showcase a variety of world-class performers across genres, from jazz to classical to hip-hop. Our Digital Stage presents exceptional performances and intimate artist stories. The successful candidate for this job will love using the camera and other tools of our craft to create engaging stories and great performing arts content for audiences around the globe.

Key Qualifications:

  • You have professional video production experience.
  • You enjoy music and the performing arts.
  • You are comfortable with flexible hours. Daily broadcasts and other recording activities will require weekend and evening work.
  • You love equipment, new technology, and figuring out the best way to use the tools of our craft to tell stories.
  • You're comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
  • You love contributing on a talented team.

This position is engaged in various elements of the multimedia studio function including, but not limited to, camera operation, media direction, media post production, audio and video engineering, equipment transport/set-up/strike, equipment maintenance and repair. Able to setup and configure Millennium Stage and other live recordings, including equipment transport, set-up, operation and strike. Able to operate multimedia equipment for interviews, b-roll captures, and other shoots. Can communicate effectively and professionally as needed with clients, while under close supervision.
