AboutWeb is currently looking for a Release Train Engineer to join one of our ongoing engagements.

The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is responsible for supporting one or more development teams in release management in a SAFe process and to facilitate the major events and processes and assist the teams in delivering value. This person will communicate with stakeholders, escalate impediments, help manage risk, and drive continuous improvement. The RTE is expected to have a full understanding of Agile delivery practices and should be able to introduce and help the team in leveraging Test-Driven Development, Test Automation and Continuous Delivery practices.
  • Manage and optimize the flow of value through the ART using various tools, such as the Program Kanbans and other information radiators
  • Help establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PI)
  • Aggregate Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives (the RTE) and publish them for visibility and transparency
  • Facilitate periodic synchronization meetings, including the ART sync at the Program Level
  • Help manage risks and dependencies
  • Escalate and track impediments
  • Along with the Product Manager and System Architect be responsible to produce the Program level backlog that feeds work to the ART
  • Report status to Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) and support related activities
  • Facilitate System Demos and Solution Demos, PI Planning readiness, the PI planning event
  • Help drive continuous improvement via Inspect and Adapt workshops; assess the agility level of the ART/Solution Train and help improve.
  • Foster Communities of Practice and the use of engineering and Built-In Quality Practices

Required Skills/Experience:
  • 7-9 years of configuration management experience and release train engineering experience
  • Experience conducting Pre- PI Planning, PI Planning, PI Retros, System Demos, Scrum of Scrums, and Product Owner Syncs
  • Strong experience working in an Agile/SAFe environment
  • Practical, hands on experience working with SAFe applied to the development of enterprise applications
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • BA or BS in related field of study required
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S now and in the future without sponsorship

Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • Experience with Backlog Refinement
  • Experience conducting Iteration Planning
  • Experience leading Iteration Demos and Daily Stand-ups
