Your Work Falls Into Three Primary Categories:

Audit Planning
  • Consult with internal teams on areas of risk related to common infrastructure (e.g. network, UNIX, databases) and information security (e.g. governance, security monitoring, threat and vulnerability)
  • Work with audit teams to define the specific steps to take to test whether Management effectively handles infrastructure and information security risks

Audit Testing
  • Participate in or lead detailed technical reviews that focus on the highest risk areas in Freddie Mac's technology infrastructure
  • Identify and use data sources to drive analytical insights into Freddie Mac's technology infrastructure
  • Document work in Internal Audit's work paper management system

Team Training
  • Maintain technical knowledge through ongoing research and review of industry publications
  • Contribute to team knowledge by leading teamwide training and knowledge shares
  • Run and Internal Audit's technology lab to explore new tools / technologies and facilitate the above training


  • Minimum of 5 years working in hands-on IT security (e.g. penetration testing, security monitoring, forensics, threat management, vulnerability management, security engineering) and/or IT Operations (e.g. network, system, database, or cloud administration / engineering).
  • We are looking for candidates with hands-on experience. We are not looking for candidates whose primary experience is in performing technology risk assessments, or compliance check.
  • Demonstrated expertise in working with different technologies (e.g. operating systems, cloud, network)
  • Knowledge and experience of industry standards and benchmarks such as NIST, CIS, or ISO
  • Must work well in a highly collaborative and team-oriented environment
  • Must work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
  • Must demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills
