Kitchen Steward

We are in search of a Kitchen steward who will report to the Kitchen Manager. The Kitchen steward provides maintenance to kitchen equipment, ensures the dishwashing areas are free of soiled items, and providing basic food preparatory support to the cooks. Additionally, the Kitchen Steward maintains an orderly and sanitary kitchen.

Responsibilities:

• Wash, dry, store, and organize kitchen and cafeteria materials.

• Perform routine maintenance on kitchen equipment using appropriate chemicals and safety gear.

• Maintain the kitchen stocked with proper sanitary and cooking supplies.

•  Store deliveries from purveyors and organize food storage areas.

• Perform basic food prep (peel, chop, slice) and operate the slicer, blender, and food processor.

• Empty kitchen cardboard and trash.

• Ability to manage and operate cash register as required.

• Maintain proper levels of chemicals in the dish machine and the 3-compartment sink.

  Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one year of experience in the culinary arts field or the appropriate combination of education and experience

• Demonstrated ability to work as a team player.

• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

• Ability to operate in a professional kitchen environment
