Selected candidate will serve as administrator for MicroStrategy tool suite, including integrations with various third-party tools (e.g. Visual Crossing). MicroStrategy is used to provide reporting and data analytics to external customers, business lines (Single Family, Multifamily, Investments and Capital Markets), corporate and IT constituencies. The tool administrator plans, coordinates and implements product upgrades in coordination with engineering counterparts as well as supports maintenance, troubleshoot system related problems, and will be responsible for the overall availability and enhancements of the tools infrastructure and the environment. Other responsibilities include presenting technical briefing to the support staff, developers and the management as well as business line representatives and leadership for IT operations.

Your Work Falls into Three Primary Categories:

Strategy Development and Implementation
  • Recommend changes to policies and established procedures that affect immediate organization's success.
  • Develop, manage, schedule and document MicroStrategy administration operations and tasks.
  • Manage maintenance processes and procedures.
  • Provide appropriate level of consultation within the organization to understand needs and develop a strategy for managing support tasks.

Team Management and Leadership
  • Ability to develop mutually beneficial relationships inside and outside of the division
  • Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, persuasively with technology and business stakeholders
  • Ability to work & collaborate effectively in a team environment
  • Provide proactive production support for BI/Analytics applications. This includes monitoring usage patterns and recommending improvements.

Operations and Technology
  • Ensure that service level requirements are met.
  • Setup governance model for application monitoring
  • Manage and track action items, issues, and risks associated with the MSTR suite of applications.
  • Follow up on items with appropriate parties to ensure their resolution and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
  • Establish and maintain administration and development best practices.
  • Administer user access and security.
  • Define and develop strategy for the roll out of new features.
  • Periodically evaluate and enhance monitoring based on changes in business and technical requirements
  • Maintain the multiple environments (Production/UAT/SIT/ DEV, Performance, etc.)
  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for monitoring the infrastructure components
  • Perform minor customization and develop scripts / interfaces if required.
  • On-board new monitoring rules in the tools to accomplish the business needs for monitoring.
  • Create and provide reports of events and alerts for incident / problem management procedures.
  • Work closely with middleware (e.g., WebLogic, Tomcat), database, UNIX, network and storage administrators for routine operations such as performance tuning, upgrades and backup.
  • Manage vendor relationships (support case resolution, acquiring new patches, upgrades and promotes industry best practices)


  • 5+ years working with MicroStrategy on Linux platform, of which 3+ years must be in administrative role
  • 3+ years of working with Linux and Windows environment.
  • 4+ years working with Application support / management
  • Administrative knowledge of MicroStrategy required
  • Experience with Apache/Tomcat
  • Application Development background
  • Strong System administration skills (Unix/Windows).
  • Strong relational database and SQL experience
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Excel, Word
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must be able to multitask as needed working on project initiatives and service tickets concurrently as needed.

  • Experience leading teams/mentoring junior staff highly desired
  • Progressive IT experience.
  • Experience with issue tracking tools like JIRA.
  • 3+ years of experience working on supporting multiple medium to large size projects preferred
