Adjunct Faculty, English (Composition)

The George Mason University English Department invites applications for English Adjunct Faculty for various part-time vacancies. Responsibilities: This position is a one-semester appointment, beginning Fall 2019, to teach one to three sections of composition. The department particularly needs faculty who can teach first-year composition and our 300-level advanced composition courses in various modes, including face to face and online. This position requires presence on the Fairfax Campus; it cannot be carried out remotely.

Required Qualifications: * M.A. in English (literature or writing and rhetoric) or MFA in creative writing in-hand; and * Experience teaching college composition. Preferred Qualifications: * PhD in Writing and Rhetoric; * Training and experience in online writing instruction (OWI) at the college level; and * Experience working with multilingual students.

Note that candidates must be able to attend professional development workshops held in mid-August at the Fairfax campus in Virginia.
