Job Announcement

Performs various duties supporting the county archives operations. Work involves managing records in all formats throughout their lifecycle in accordance with policy, digitizing physical records to electronic format, cataloging electronic files, and extensive contact in responding to informational requests from the general public, county agency representatives, professional researchers, federal officers, and the clerks and staff of the General District Court. Provides and explains relevant policies and procedures to county staff. Requires research techniques to locate proper record in instances where the information provided by the clients are not correct, incomplete, or in error. Processes incoming records in both physical and electronic format and refiles records into their proper physical records center location; transports records to and from various locations as needed; moves boxes from vehicles and buildings to the proper location on the shelves; properly disposes inactive records in both physical and electronic formats according to established state retention schedule and destruction requirements; provides proper maintenance to equipment used for lifting and moving boxes. Provides supervision of volunteer staff, and helps train employees on operations and procedures, and may provide guidance and assistance to employees as required. May perform other duties as assigned. This position works under the direction of the assistant county archivist.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation or a GED issued by a state department of education, supplemented by college level course work in American history, American studies, library science, or a related field; plus two years of experience in cataloging and managing public records, preferably in a "records center" environment.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working with HP Content Manager or comparable enterprise content management system. Familiar with scanning and digital conversion technologies and equipment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Office 365 software especially Word, Excel, and Access. Proficiency with SharePoint. Two or more years of records management experience in the public sector (federal/state/local government). Associates degree in information systems, computer science, information technology, library science, business, or a related information governance field.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to the position must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check and driving record check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Required to lift up to 50 pounds. Lift boxes (plan size) and 20-30 pounds. Lift Record Center boxes on a consistent basis throughout the work day; ability to operate a vehicle; move pallets containing boxes using pallet jack, forklift, or personnel lift at heights of 18 feet. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
