Dewberry's Resilience Solutions group applies engineering, GIS, data analytics, and planning disciplines to help our clients understand their natural hazard risks and to make informed decisions to reduce risk and increase resilience. The Water Resources/Resilience Solutions Manager will lead, direct, and develop teams comprised of engineers, scientists, GIS analysts, resilience planners, and program specialists in the execution of water resources, coastal, risk assessment, mitigation, and resilience projects nationwide. Priority will be on building capacity and capability necessary to support rapid growth. This position is based in Fairfax, VA.


The successful candidate will have a diverse background with evidence of strong advancement in management responsibilities, clearly demonstrated expertise and success in managing and motivating multi-discipline teams, and overseeing the execution of water resources, risk assessment, mitigation, and resilience projects. Responsibilities include:
  • Implementing a lifecycle talent pipeline to attract, develop, and retain high-performing talent.
  • Ensuring adequate technical capability and capacity to successfully deliver on current and forecasted workload as well as to support long-term growth projections.
  • Mobilizing, energizing, and organizing cross-functional teams for success in delivering a large (and growing) portfolio of complex projects.
  • Delivering candid, constructive performance feedback to staff and providing technical oversight.
  • Developing and implementing meaningful career paths for staff aligned with their strengths, aptitudes, and interests.
  • Achieving financial performance metrics (e.g. staff utilization, project profitability) while at the same time investing and building for longer term growth.
  • Working with client, program, and project managers to bring market facing ideas and strategies and new service delivery methodologies to clients.
  • Ensuring all operational activities conform to and integrate with Dewberry's requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal compliance, and general policies and procedures.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in A/E consulting with a minimum of 10 years in program, project, or staff management. Experience supporting FEMA Insurance and Mitigation Programs a strong plus.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Geography, Planning, or similar discipline. Advanced technical degree or an MBA a plus.
  • Professional Engineer, GISP, CFM or other registration/certification appropriate for technical discipline preferred. PMP a strong plus.
