Join a prominent non-profit organization located on 60-acres of the most beautiful grounds in Washington, DC. The Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation (PECF) was chartered by Congress over 100 years ago to promote the causes of religion, education, and charity.  The PECF is made up of four institutions; Washington National Cathedral, National Cathedral School, St Albans School, and Beauvoir, the National Cathedral Elementary School, and is home to the Diocese of Washington.  We are home to over sixteen hundred students, half a million visitors annually, and keep our doors open for daily services. The PECF offers a diverse and collaborative work environment and we are currently seeking a Controls Technician to join our Facilities Department.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  1. performs system diagnostics and troubleshooting for air conditioning and heating installations including chilled water and steam systems, and supporting electrical and especially control wiring infrastructure.
  2. Works with software and hardware and commissions (insures desired operational effects) control system hardware and software on multiple DDC systems. (Johnson, Honeywell, Novar, Trane, Delta).
  3. Repairs, maintains and operates all existing control systems serving all of the mechanical equipment on the Close with particular emphasis on the existing building automation and energy management systems.
  4. Performs hands-on replacement and upgrade of existing control systems components as necessary and as part of the control modernization plan. Critical point of contact on HVAC and controls trouble calls. Participates in documenting functioning status of electric/mechanical equipment components for replacement, participates in the preventative maintenance program, and recommends energy savings control system installations. 

Minimum of 5-years of diversified technical experience with HVAC systems in large physical plants and minimum of 3-years experience as a controls technician.

Minimum of five years’ experience with both pneumatic control systems and computerized energy management systems, particularly in pneumatic to digital control transitions. 

Associates (2-year) degree in electronics or closely related field desirable.

Must possess valid driver's license and good driving record and must be available for 24-hour emergency calls on a two-week rotating schedule.
