The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is seeking part-time, temporary Concessions Sales Associates for the opening festival of the REACH, the Center's first major expansion!

The REACH is a living theater where diverse art forms collide to break down the boundaries between audience and art. It is an immersive learning center, a public incubator, and a set of dynamic, collaborative spaces where art happens so close audiences can reach out and touch it.

The opening festival for the REACH includes 16 full days and nights of creativity in action! We are seeking dependable and friendly individuals who will provide superb customer service to worldwide clientele during this exciting moment in the Kennedy Center's history.

Compensation : $16.00/hour

Length of Assignment : Now through September 22nd, 2019. Due to the very limited tenure of this position, only applicants who can commit to the entire duration of the assignment will be considered.

Working Shifts : Associates will be required to work 4 hours per week for the duration of the assignment. Available shifts are as follows: Monday-Sunday: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.; 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.; 5 p.m. - 10 p.m.; 6 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities :
  • Manning refreshment carts
  • Selling performance merchandise at kiosks
  • Assisting with artist signings


Key Qualifications :
  • You have a high school diploma or GED
  • You are dependable and have reliable transportation
  • You have a flexible schedule and would be available to work weekends and evenings
  • You are comfortable using the latest technology, including iPads and Square Payments Processing, and have cash handling experience
  • You love to interact with customers and have a naturally friendly and outgoing personality
  • You are able to remain calm and collected in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • You are comfortable making quick decisions independently and require little to no supervision
  • You are reliable and able to manage inventory and performance merchandise


Physical Demands :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate in-person. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel in order to perform essential tasks. The employee is required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. This position frequently lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment :

This position will be working in an environment that will be both slow and fast-paced with conditions such as low-to-high noise levels, varying heights and slopes, temperature fluctuations, and occasional limited lighting (ranging from dim to dark), including exterior and evening events, activities, and performances.
