Summary

About the Position: You will serve as the technical expert/authority and project manager for the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command (USACIDC) technical planning, analyzing, integration, implementation, documenting, and management of network systems used for the transmission of information in voice, data, and/or video and for USACIDC Information Technology (IT) policy and planning.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct studies to identify/determine network requirements and/or upgrades.
  • Coordinate studies and plans with management to ensure implementation of network requirements and/or upgrades.
  • Develop and implement IT plans, policies, standards, infrastructures and programs.
  • Provide direction and configuration plans for complex local-area and wide-area networks (LAN/WAN).
  • Conduct organization studies to evaluate and determine IT requirements.
  • Evaluate data collected from studies, making recommendations for implementations of IT requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with IT plans, policies, standards, etc. of IT management plans and programs.
  • Conduct briefings and provide correspondence throughout the organization regarding IT budget concerns and expenditures.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized experience is defined as: Implementing and ensuring compliance with policies, standards and It programs, evaluating network software, hardware, installations, etc., analyzing and interpreting both local-area and wide-area networks (LAN) and wide-area networks (WAN) user access/requirements, implementing new and updated IT plans, policies, and guidance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12)

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
