Responsibilities

As a INTELLIGENCE OPERATIONS SPECIALIST, GG-0132-14, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:
  • Initiates projects, and plans, organizes, and conducts analysis of narrowly defined and interrelated areas of intelligence issues pertaining to WMD and terrorist threats to US and its allies, and supports the development of plans based on intelligence threat assessments supporting CWMD-T.
  • Evaluates the overall effectiveness and adequacy of intelligence operations, recognizing and responding to collection/production related issues, developments and trends that impact DTRA and US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) missions and ensuring fulfillment of all requirements submitted to DTRA or USSOCOM personnel and elements.
  • Leads and participates in interdisciplinary teams in the analysis of political, economic, social, cultural, physical, geographical, scientific, military, or terrorist activities and trends in foreign and domestic areas.
  • Insures DTRA and USSOCOM involvement and participation with the National Counterterrorism Center, Defense Intelligence Agency, and various committees within the Intelligence Community (IC), and coordinates with high-level government offices and agencies to ensure analyses and responses are current and validated.
  • Maintains extensive liaison and coordinates closely with the Intelligence Community (IC). Represents DTRA and USSOCOM at IC meetings and working groups to further the goals of intelligence requirements support to DTRA
  • Work is reviewed only for potential influence on broad agency policy objectives and program goals. Completed work is normally accepted as authoritative and representing the latest insights regarding the issue addressed.

This Position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1601, For more information see http://dcips.dtic.mil Selection under this appointment authority does not confer civil service competitive status.

If selected, Federal employees currently serving in the competitive service must acknowledge that they will voluntarily leave the competitive service by accepting an offer of employment for a DCIPS excepted service positions.

If selected, non-DCIPS candidates must acknowledge that the position they have been selected for is in the
excepted service and covered by DCIPS.

This is an Excepted Service position.

Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, and will typically be demonstrated by working at, or immediately below the level of the job being advertised, for a year or more. The previous work experience must clearly demonstrate the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Specialized experience required for this position is:
  • Leading, managing, or overseeing complex and diverse Research Development IT and data analytic efforts. Firsthand experience with deep analytics.
  • Developing an organization with an emerging technology mission focus and achieving long-term vision and goals for a technology-based organization.
  • Creating and gaining approval for new, innovative technology-centric programs designed to solve long-standing and difficult problems.
  • Supervising technologists and program managers.
  • Building collaborative interagency or cross organization programs and investments.

  • Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies:

    Familiarity with intelligence community information tools and technical development for improved analytics, Knowledge of DoD special operations and Joint Intelligence Preparation of the Operational Environment (JIPOE), Managing analytic production in support of military planning, Oversees a team to meet goals and objectives set by an operational customer., and WMD Program Knowledge
