Small Non-Profit in downtown DC (Farragut North) is looking for someone to cover their HR desk during a leave of absence from Aug-Nov 2019. Business casual workplace, hours are 9-5 M-Th and 9-1 on Fridays. Client has set the pay-rate as DOE but could go as high as $31/hr for a real superstar.

Job Description:
  • Manage the "lifecycle" of employees, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll, training, developing and implementing effective employee relations and off boarding.
  • Manage payroll, benefit and 401K compliance and audit, federal and state compliance and necessary filings including workers compensation and health insurance annual reviews with brokers.
  • Perform payroll functions including processing payroll, tax reporting requirements, benefits administration, ACA administration, 401(k) processing, and supplemental benefits processing for the company
  • Maintain employee records and all personnel-related documentation.
  • Ensure all staff, new and seasoned, maintain a current understanding of staff policies, procedures, and administrative processes.
  • Implement and manage employee benefits and compensation directly or with third-party administrator or vendor.
  • Analyze employee benefits options, needs, and resources and make recommendations.
  • Draft job descriptions and manage the annual review process.
  • Support supervisors in their role of supporting and evaluating staff in a manner consistent with the organization's values.
  • Develop and implement effective employee relations program that emphasizes conflict resolution.
  • Investigate or rectify any charges of discrimination or harassment in accordance with best practices and the FOF policy and procedures.
  • Provides monthly updates for corporate staff regarding new hires, policies, employment matters, and employee trends.

Job Requirements

  • Passion for providing a high-level of service to employees and aligning the human resources function with the mission of the organization.
  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree in Human Resources Administration preferred
  • Additional years of professional HR experience may be substituted for required degree on a one-year for one-year basis
  • PHR, SPHR certification preferred
  • Required 6 years of progressive professional human resources experience in a complex, fast paced environment
  • Superior organizational and time management skills with the demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize and successfully manage high-stress situations
  • High level of initiative, critical thinking, sound judgement and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal HR laws and regulations
