Desktop Engineer Herndon, VA 20170 6 months Contract Required Function 1 JOB SUMMARY Provide technical support to clients by troubleshooting applications, systems access, hardware, software, and network related issues. Document and monitor service requests to ensure that the issue resolution meets or exceeds the service level standard for owned tickets as well as tickets owned by Tier 1 and 2 technicians. Take ownership and accountability for the projects and efforts assigned to you. Experience with imaging, package deployment and systems management. Provide training and coaching and acts as an escalation point for Tier 1 and 2 Support Technicians. Provide onsite technical support for clients. Perform complex and unique assignments that require the application of basic principles and theories of desktop engineering. Maintain responsibility for managing the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems. Serve as a front-line interface to users with technical issues and make recommendations for hardware and software purchases. Interact with third-party technology vendors, conduct systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies, install new software, troubleshoot and grant permissions to applications, and train users. Develop resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity, use judgment within broadly defined policies and practices, and accomplish work without considerable direction. Required Function 2 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provide troubleshooting and resolution for workstation, server, and communications software and hardware issues, including more advanced topics and situations Collaborate with other End User Support Technicians, End User Leadership and Service Delivery Manager when escalating and resolving complex issues Create clear, concise documentation in instructional knowledge-based articles Open, update, track, and close tickets in the ticket management system Test and integrate new hardware and software Design and solution new technology 3+ years of experience with Windows server SCCM and PowerShell scripting Ability to implement and maintain Microsoft Windows Group Policy in support of Windows 10 Provide active troubleshooting and resolution guidance to Tier 1 and 2 technicians Coach and train Tier 1 and 2 technicians on technical topics and issue resolution management. Lead small internal projects as directed by the End User Leadership or Service Delivery Manager Required Function 3 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS ABILITIES Good verbal, written, and telephone communication skills Excellent problem-solving skills Good organizational and time management skills Strong customer service skills Required experience with the following Remedy or similar ticket or ITSM Microsoft Office365 applications Microsoft SCCM Microsoft Bitlocker Configuredeploy workstations using MDT (Microsoft Deployment Toolkit) Hardware and networking topology Experience utilizing Microsoft Intune Education Qualification Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), or closely related field.
