We are seeking a Medical Grant Writer who will write medical grant proposals to secure external funding for continuing medical education (CME) and sponsored programming across multiple therapeutic areas. In collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs), our Education & Meetings team, and our Development & Strategic Partnerships team, you will help ensure high quality proposals are submitted for funding that will enhance member value and meet/exceed funder expectations.


What you’ll bring to the job:

  • BA/BS degree required with a minimum of 3 years’ experience with the acquisition of CME grant support and sponsorships, understanding and development of continuing education profession and program planning.
  • Master’s degree or advance scientific or relevant experience in medical education highly desirable. 
  • Experience working with expert faculty and key opinion leaders on developing educational content.  
  • Experience writing and submitting clinical grant proposals including needs assessments, gap analyses, program descriptions. 
  • Must excel in a team-oriented environment with consensus-building and collaboration skills, including ability to seek out the facts and pertinent information before drawing conclusions and listening and responding to people with sensitivity. 
  • Exceptional research, writing and editing skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Ability to develop, track and write evaluation reports.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as grant RFPs and peer-review articles; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Appropriate technical skills required for proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, organizing and using information stored in a database, etc. and ability to learn new technology as required.

What you’ll own:

  • Identify the skills, knowledge, information, and educational gaps of targeted audiences and develop grant proposals.
    • Use scientific/clinical knowledge, new/existing data from environmental scans, and/or needs assessments to identify educational gaps of targeted audiences including researchers and clinicians, practice professionals at varying career levels (early/mid/advanced), and those treating endocrine disorders. 
    • Conduct targeted literature review and identify knowledge gaps for development of proposal-specific needs assessment.
    • Identify, develop, and respond to corporate and other grant opportunities.
  • Responsible for writing grant proposals that demonstrate the Society’s commitment to excellence in designing/producing/delivering exceptional content with meaningful learning activities, as well as compliance with CME/MOC guidelines. In addition, will co-develop gap analysis/needs assessment, learning objectives, and program agendas, etc. 
  • Collaborate with grant writing/reviewing teams (member committees, education staff, key opinion leaders (KOLs), and/or consultants) to refine grant proposals.
    • Ensure submissions are packaged according to the requirements of the grant-issuing organizations, showcasing accurate data and appropriate impact stories.
    • Work collaboratively with Development & Strategic Partnerships team to monitor, track, and develop proposals in a timely manner.
    • Proactively communicate the status of projects and updates of education programs to the appropriate stakeholder teams.
  • Manage and oversee outcomes reporting data.
    • Collaborate with Development & Strategic Partnerships team and Program Managers to review/outline/confirm required outcomes reporting metrics and timeline for each grant submission.
    • Work with Program Managers to ensure accurate and complete outcomes reporting is captured for all programs supported by funders and relays that information back to Development & Strategic Partnerships team per timeline.   
    • Manage a follow-up and reporting system to sustain, evaluate, and expand existing funding.
    • Develop and manage an accountability and reporting system to produce periodic and final reports as required by funding organizations.
    • Address knowledge gaps and make recommendations for learning improvement. 
  • Serve as lead aggregator/synthesizer of key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Society’s education portfolio.
    • Maintain and continuously monitor and synthesize KPIs, with an emphasis on reporting data and findings to enhance Society’s education offerings. 
    • Consistently and proactively inform management and key stakeholders of progress and/or stagnation related to education portfolio performance.
    • Work collaboratively with the education team to develop new KPIs and assessment instruments to measure performance.

Set up procedures to ensure high quality of work; monitor the quality of work by setting up procedures; act to verify information; check the accuracy of own and others' work; develop and use systems to organize and keep track of information or work progress; prepare for meetings and presentations; organize information or materials for others; review and check the accuracy of information in work reports. 
  • Use a logical reasoning process to break down and work through a situation or problem to arrive at an outcome.
