Jr. DevOps Engineer needed for a 6 month contract opportunity with Yoh's client located in Reston, VA.The Big Picture Our client is looking for someone to support a full range of activities necessary to deliver services on an end-to-end basis supporting a national Video On Demand infrastructure. A passionate, highly motivated, junior to mid-level Linux systems administrator eager to learn. Top Skills You Should Possess 2 years of experience as a Linux Systems Administrator Experience with Puppet, Ansible or Kubernetes preferred. Experience with Ruby a big plus. What You'll Be Doing Design, implement, troubleshoot, analyze and maintain the VOD infrastructure of internal and external customer environments. Network connectivity and utilization Linux server administration Virtualization, performance tuning, software & hardware deployments, process development & analytics development. Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems while maintaining documentation of networks, systems and processes. Support, & maintain the VOD infrastructure via Windows/Linux operating system installations, upgrades, patching, tuning, log parsing, construct data serving methods, system configurations. Guiding and ensuring holistic operational monitoring and alarming practices across VOD devices Perform application software installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting across products including but not limited to; NetApp, Ateme, Oracle, MySQL, Apache, Aspera, Puppet/Ansible, Elemental, RGB Networks, thePlatform, Nagios, Zabbix, and other VOD related devices. Perform troubleshooting, problem resolution activities and root cause analysis with other support teams (eg network support, service desk, vendors). Development of creative technical solutions aimed at improving performance, workflows, methods and procedures. Produce root cause analysis findings that focus on recommendations to learn from, and avoid problem recurrence mitigating future systemic system issues Participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours coverage as needed. Occasional travel required What You Need To Bring To The Table 2 years of experience as a Linux Systems Administrator Experience with Puppet, Ansible or Kubernetes preferred. Experience with Ruby a big plus. Experience with all or some of the following: NetApp, Ateme, Oracle, MySQL, Apache, Aspera, Puppet/Ansible, Elemental, RGB Networks, thePlatform, Nagios, Zabbix, or other VOD related devices. Experience with Windows Server Administration a plus Strong interpersonal skills are a priority. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Successful candidates must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with various external stakeholders, executive leadership, and cross disciplinary teams. Must be able to condense complex technical issues into clear, concise, and accurate summaries using audience-appropriate language.
