The nurse practitioner utilizes scientific principles, theoretical knowledge, and clinical experience along with national standards of care as a framework for managing patient care.A Master's degree in nursing, and successful completion of an accredited nurse practitioner program of study is necessary. Credentialed as an advanced practice nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Current licensure as a registered nurse and advanced practice nurse in the District of Columbia and/or Virginia is required (based on office site). Experience Two years of recent clinical experience as an advanced practice nurse practitioner.
