Research Analyst II, Center for Global Health Science and Security - Georgetown University Medical Center

The Research Analyst 2 position will provide analytical support to the planning, development, and implementation of sponsored research projects, simulation exercises, and global health security leadership activities associated with the Elizabeth R. Griffin (ERG) Program in the Center for Global Health Science and Security . The Research Analyst's duties include but are not limited to:
  • Help design and apply tools to identify gaps in national and regional capabilities for biorisk management.
  • Draft analytical reports to characterize gaps and opportunities for capacity building in biosafety and biosecurity through international partnerships.
  • Support the development and testing of case studies and other original training and educational materials.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of simulation exercises to test national, regional, and global capabilities to respond to biological events.
  • Analyze policies, protocols, and practices related to the management of biological risks in research and diagnostic laboratory settings.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining an electronic resource library on the prevention and treatment of biological exposures among laboratory, clinical, and field researchers, and will assist in moderating and curating technical content.
  • Support the ERGP's current leadership activities related to the Global Health Security Agenda Consortium of non-government institutions, and will be expected to support logistical planning for domestic and international workshops and exercises.


The successful candidate must be flexible and capable of responding to rapidly evolving needs for the planning, development, and implementation of research projects and training events as a valued member of a multi-disciplinary team.

This position requires international travel.

Qualifications
  • Must be capable of analyzing biorisk management and global health security policies with moderate supervision, adapting complex research methodologies as needed
  • Master's degree in the biological sciences or related field
  • 1-2 years of experience in applied research techniques and data analysis in a life sciences laboratory OR undergraduate degree in biology or science-related field
  • Knowledge of current concepts in biological threat agents and biorisk management policies and practices
  • Ability to work with colleagues and partners of diverse backgrounds and attention to detail


Preferred qualifications
  • Experience in conducting policy analysis related to biohazardous threat agents, microbiology, infectious diseases, and/or emerging technologies
  • Advanced organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of information management systems and platforms
  • Strong information technology/computer skills
