Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing and responsible for implementing an Educational Technology Program for youth 6-18 years of age. Interacts with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques.
  • Monitors Internet use by children and youth to minimize risk of exposure to inappropriate content.
  • Ensures computer, peripherals, and software are maintained in good condition and working order. Troubleshoots CYS hardware, printers, scanners, servers and software.
  • Informs CYS Functional Technology Specialist of any major repairs requiring professional expertise.
  • Secures supplies, equipment, and facilities. Trains children/youth in use of equipment and software programs. Assists in training employees and Family Child Care Providers in Basic Computer Skills as required.
  • Ensures computer, peripherals, and software are maintained in good condition and working order. Troubleshoots CYS hardware, printers, scanners, servers and software.

  • Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-15, and favorable completion of a Tier 1 Childcare National Agency Check with Inquiries (CNACI) background investigation is required.
  • Must have current health assessment which documents good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations IAW current Army and DoD policy including annual influenza vaccinations.
  • Satisfactory performance, successful completion of training requirements (transition and/or annual) and demonstrated on the job competency is required. Failure to achieve desired training with demonstrated competence may result in separation.
  • Position requires working with computers, peripherals, software and common hand and electrical tools.
  • Appointment is subject to successful completion and favorable results of fingerprints, health assessment (physical), and Installation Record Checks to determine suitability for this position.


Qualifications

1. Be able to communicate in English (verbal and written).
2. Be 18 years of age at time of employment.
3. Possess and maintain ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis.
4. Possess and maintain health and freedom from communicable disease.
5. Possess knowledge and demonstrated skill in Microsoft Windows and Applications using the Internet (email, searching, web page design) and network computing and possess a professional certificate or higher related to computer science/information technology, or 24 months of experience working in the related field.

HIGHLY QUALIFIED:
1-Possess at least 2 years of experience working with and engaging youth, ages 11 to 18 (Middle School and/or High School ages), in a Science, Engineering, Technology, and/or Math (STEM) capacity.
2-Possess at least 5 years of experience with MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
3-Possess 2+ years of experience working with small electronic components, electronic circuits, and/or robotics AND using or building drones and/or remote-controlled (RC) models in a personal or professional capacity.
4-Possess demonstrated experience with basic 3D printing and/or Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine.
5-Comfortable working with power tools such as table and miter saws.
6-Possess experience with computer coding.
7-Familiar with microcomputers and single-board computers (e.g. Arduino and Raspberry Pi).
8-Possess demonstrated experience with Computer Aided Design.
