Duties

Summary

The primary purpose of this position is: To provide engineering technical support to perform the more difficult and complex facility, equipment, and system programming task for contract projects required to support Andrews AFB and five outlying sites.

The organizational location of this position is: 11th Airlift Wing, 11th Mission Support Group, 11th Civil Engineer Squadron, Engineering Flight, Joint Base Andrews AFB, Maryland.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops layouts, drafts statements of work, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Assembles proposal packages for new military projects for construction, alterations, maintenance, and/or repairs to various base facilities.
  • Interprets and clarifies plans, specifications, and other proposal documents.
  • Provides construction management and control over assigned construction contracts.
  • Prepares and process delivery order documentation and correspondence, construction permits, communication support requests, and partial payment request submittals.

  • May be required at the convenience of the government to perform temporary duty travel by either government or commercial air transportation, and to utilize government furnished quarters and mess at temporary duty when available.
  • Must possess complete motor skills and manual dexterity to perform inspections in crawl spaces, tunnels, culverts, and roofs.
  • Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position has been identified as a designated position under the Air Force Drug Testing Plan. Selectee must pass initial and random short notice drug testing.


Qualifications

In order to qualify for this Engineering Technician, GS-0802-11, position, you must meet the Minimum Qualification Requirement described below. Your resume must fully support your experience in order to be found qualified.

You must have at least one year of specialized experience which included: (1) Preparing time schedules, budget estimates and/or statements of work for new construction projects; (2) Performing construction estimating based on the understanding of materials and assemblies required; (3) Providing construction management and control over assigned construction contracts; and (4) Planning the layout and design of conventional engineering projects. This experience must be comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in private or public sectors). NOTE: Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Part time or unpaid experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Military members may be appointed before the effective date of their military retirement/separation if member is on terminal leave.
