Summary

As the Innovation Officer in the Office of Innovation, you will serve as an advisor to the Chief Innovation Officer (CINO), and OCC senior management and staff on a wide range of issues, proposals, and other matters regarding Responsible Innovation within and affecting the OCC's regulated institutions.

Responsibilities

As the Innovation Officer, you will:

•Identify and develop programs and initiatives to build effective internal awareness and training, and to ensure adequate evaluation and supervision of new financial industry products, services and processes by OCC staff, and by OCC's bank supervision staff in particular.

•Work with other OCC units to develop materials that describe the fundamentals of emerging products, services, processes and technology within the OCC's supervised financial entities, as well as those of nonbanks, especially banks' Fintech partners.

•Facilitate, coordinate, and, as appropriate, integrate responses to internal and external inquiries regarding the full spectrum of emerging trends and innovation related matters. Serve as a central point of contact for banks, nonbanks, including Fintechs, and OCC employees on innovation-related activities.

•Work with other units to develop/update relevant training materials. Develop and disseminate talking points and presentations on responsible innovation and emerging trends. Lead OCC "office hours", innovation workshops, and roundtables and periodic responsible innovation forum events.

•Support two-way communication of risks and opportunities related to innovation. As appropriate, participate in discussions to address and understand the evolving financial services landscape, and determine appropriate actions by the OCC, consistent with sound risk management and fair access to financial services and fair treatment of consumers.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 60 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement:

You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-V band level or GS-11 grade level in the federal service. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:
  • Experience applying bank supervision regulations, policies, concepts and procedures to support responsible innovation, identify risk, and evaluate emerging trends in the banking industry; and
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders (i.e., bankers and internal colleagues) to provide counsel, insight, or advice.


The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

  • Salary range includes 20% geographical pay.
  • This is not an entry-level or developmental position. This position is at the full-performance level.

We strongly suggest that you discuss the potential implications of any change in duties on a prior securities determination with your ethics official.
