MITRE's Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence (CSAI) Department is seeking a highly motivated project leader experienced in autonomous systems, artificial intelligence and robotics to expand our work program and respond to growing sponsor interest in this area. This is an excellent opportunity to support MITRE's AI and autonomy efforts using your domain knowledge in autonomous systems being developed across industry, academia, and the government; a keen understanding of AI and autonomous system testing, evaluation, and assurance; and an awareness of sponsor needs and areas where MITRE can have an impact. In this position you will collaborate, communicate and coordinate with current CSAI efforts to ensure the delivery of fully integrated solutions to our sponsors. Develop and propose new research directions in autonomous systems in support of MITRE's internal research program and sponsor's research programs. Leading projects and tasks towards successful execution and growth.. Developing a context-aware multi-robot control architecture based on systems engineering analysis of vehicle communications, navigation and controls.. Mentor new staff to make leaders in this area and build MITRE's bench strength.. Develop and implement hybrid automata model for software and physical systems. Pursue and present development of new robotics and autonomy solutions for our DoD and IC sponsors.. Qualifications. Required Qualifications:. Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a DoD clearance.. BS and 5 + years of related experience. Documented success in defining work programs greater than themselves / a technical thought leader.. Understand the breadth of autonomous systems across different domains (DoD, Services, Intelligence Community, DHS, Industry and Academia).. Ability to articulate autonomy-specific challenges (in perception, reasoning, behaviors, collaborations), discuss critical issues, and identify gaps.. Familiarity with the state of the art in the field.. Experience in conducting autonomous systems and AI testing and evaluation.. Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.. Preferred Qualifications:. Preference given to qualified candidates holding an active DoD clearance.. Ability to engage and interact effectively with senior government executives, program managers, and contractors.. Experience programming in object oriented languages, eg Java, C++, Python. Experience developing machine learning solutions with modern toolchains, eg TensorFlow, MXNet, Scikit-Learn.
