We are currently seeking a Senior Lab Technician to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in Gaithersburg, MD. The contractor shall:Assist in the cell line development to support and advance Vaccine Research Center clinical vaccine and therapeutic protein candidates. Develop virus vaccines, recombinant proteins and virus-like particles. Support the CLD team leads to advance CHO and HEK293 CLD optimization studies.Perform laboratory maintenance in compliance with GLP standards, maintenance of all laboratory equipment's used for CLD.Prepare cell culture medium, feeds and other custom medium additives for both ClonePix and FACS based CLD protocols.Order and stock critical reagents used for CLD.Support steady on demand supply of host CHO and 293 cells to the CLD team.Perform CLD using both ClonePix and FACS platforms.Evaluate and optimize high-throughput evaluation of culture media and culture conditions for optimization of CLD protocols.Support current activities related to development of methods for clone selection, expansion, ranking and characterization using various culture vessels including tissue culture plates, shake flasks and small-scale bioreactors. Participate in the integration of ClonePix and FACS CLD platforms, and CLD cycle-time reduction studies.Provide significant laboratory support for optimization and process development of inducible mammalian expression systems.Write and review technical reports and development protocols documenting process development studies and may assist in the writing of documents required for regulatory filings. REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences.Two (2) years of experience in a science related field.Demonstrates experience working in the research laboratory environment; or in an academic or industrial setting.Working knowledge of mammalian cell culture technology including aseptic techniques and general cell culture laboratory techniques.Experience with molecular methods, PCR/RT-PCR, nucleic acid extraction, plasmid vectors and cloning.The candidate must be a team player who can effectively work in a collaborative environment involving cell culture process development, analytical development and other R&D personnel.Good oral and written communication skills are required.Experience in writing and reviewing scientific findings, SOPs, and other process documents.Familiarity with computer software including word processing and Excel macro programming for data analysis and evaluation.
