Our Germany-based software development company just opened its office in Alexandria, Virginia, and we're growing a local team to better serve our US-based clients. The business analyst for commercial and industrial insurance will serve as a senior advisor to the mgm Cosmo product team and its clients. They will have US-specific domain knowledge in a variety of insurance industries, and will use their experience with local insurance legal concerns and requirements to best guide mgm Cosmo development for the States. They will also serve as the voice of the customer, translating their business objectives into technical requirements. They will identify opportunities for process improvement, spearhead one of our clients' projects that will require intricate product information analysis, and safeguard business expectations upon final product delivery. They will work with stakeholders to elucidate real versus stated requirements, and uncover hidden dependencies and project costs. The business analyst will document business requirements, clarify product attributes, and generally act as our in-house industrial and commercial insurance megamind. ResponsibilitiesUse interviews, workshops, document analyses, surveys, business process descriptions, and other methods to form and analyze project requirements for industrial and commercial insurance software. Provide expert insight and advice on the US's industrial and commercial insurance industry, with a strong understanding of current and future market needs. Critically evaluate both technical and non-technical business processes to resolve common insurance conflicts. Lead change management procedures when necessary. Conduct effort estimates with software architects, roadmap and priority management, and project scoping. Work with mgm technology partners' growing team to nurture their fun and supportive office environment. Skills and experience5+ years working in commercial or industrial insurance, including General Third Party Liability, Property and Business Interruption, Marine, Aviation, Entertainment, Engineering, Financial Lines, and Worker's Comp. Vast domain knowledge of US industrial and commercial insurance, particularly in local norms, regulations, and industry pain points. Experience working as a business analyst, technical consultant, or related position. Exceptional focus on detail and strategic thinking. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and comfort with both executives and non-executives. High levels of integrity, composure, and respect for others.
