The George Mason University Research Support Office invites applications for a CUI & Secure Research Program Manager. Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of the CUI & Secure Research Program Manager include: Assisting in developing, maintaining and updating the university's Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), export, and secure research compliance programs. The CUI Program Manager will perform CUI, export control, and secure research analysis of individual projects and technologies at Mason by working with faculty to understand the technology, individuals, and facilities involved and determining whether a safeguarding plan is needed. The CUI Program Manager will (i) provide advice, resources, outreach, and training regarding CUI, export control, and secure research to Mason colleges and schools, researchers, the Office of Sponsored Programs, Information Technology Services, and other support professionals, (ii) will maintain CUI, export, and restricted research documentation, including technology control and data management/safeguarding plans, documentation related to export licenses, and (iii) will assist in creating and maintaining electronic resources, including websites and web-based training programs. The CUI Program Manager will serve as Assistant Facility Security Officer and work with Mason's Facility Security Officer to maintain and update the University's secure research compliance program. This includes facilitating personnel security clearances, maintaining employee security folders, site visits of secure research space, evaluating management practices, and ensuring secure storage of materials when needed.

Required Qualifications: * Master's degree * US person (US national, permanent resident, asylee, or refugee under US law) * Ability to obtain Top Secret-SCI clearance. * Strong communication skills with the ability to work across diverse groups and facilitate complex conversations about integrity and ethics.

Preferred Qualifications: * Advanced degree in regulatory, technical or legal field (M.S., J.D., or similar) * Two to four years of experience managing CUI, export compliance and/or secure research programs * Experience with regulatory and legislative authorities and areas including, but not limited to, FERPA, PII, EAR, USML, and CUI * Demonstrated working knowledge of NIST Special Publication 800 series (e.g. NIST 800-171) and an understanding of Information Technology, including a reasonable amount of technical skill * Familiarity with research processes and experience navigating compliance processes and requirements * Experience in a large dispersed university environment, preferably one that accepts export restrictions and secure research
