Job Announcement

This position is located within the Department of Family Services, specifically the Division of Children, Youth and Families (CYF). Supervises multiple staff in the placement and resource unit team which is part of the Foster Care and Adoption Resource and Support Program. Guides staff in obtaining thorough information about the needs of children and youth needing foster care or respite placements in order to find the most appropriate resource based on the child's needs. Provides clinical direction to staff utilizing evidence-based interventions with the goal of supporting foster parents to preserve placement stability. Establishes collaborative relationships with other departments and various private providers of services. Possesses knowledge regarding policies, laws and best practices related to placement issues, supporting foster families, child abuse and neglect, trauma, normalcy, separation and loss, and family dynamics. Ensures recertification deadlines as well as monitor accuracy of paperwork, funding processes, and documentation requirements are met.

Schedule: Appointee may be required to work some weeknights and weekends.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree; plus four years of increasingly responsible, directly-related professional experience in the social services or human services field. A master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of required experience.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
  • Driver's License (Required upon hire).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in social work, psychology or other related degree.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in the following: working in foster care and adoption, working with a diverse multicultural population, providing supervision or leadership to other staff, and providing crisis work as well as ongoing supportive counseling.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to the position must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check, Child Protective Services Registry check, and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Sufficiently mobile to travel throughout the area to attend meetings and events. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to use automated technology. Ability to use mobile phone. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
