Summary

Provides legal support to AARP Services, Inc.'s (ASI) General Counsel and staff. Provides legal support to staff and senior attorneys in drafting, negotiating, analyzing, and maintaining contracts for member benefits and vendors. Provides legal support and guidance to program managers for products/services, as necessary.

Helps review member-facing marketing and other materials provided by service providers. Performs due diligence and other legal research, as requested. Keeps abreast of all relevant legal developments related to transactions, marketing, advertising, insurance, privacy, and tax regulations that could impact ASI.

Responsibilities

1. Drafts, analyzes, and negotiates contracts with providers of AARP-branded products and services.

2.Oversees protection of AARP's assets, including the name, brand, and reputation.

3.Supports contract negotiations for new member benefits.

4.Supports review of vendor contracts.

5.Helps review marketing materials.

6.Performs due diligence on potential providers of member benefits.

7.Performs legal research.

8.Provides support for other attorneys, as requested, including research and analyses of transaction issues and analyses of provisions of current provider contracts.

Requirements
  • Completion of a Juris Doctorate degree and member in good standing of the D.C. Bar or eligible to become a member.
  • 2+ years of legal experience.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
