Summary

This vacancy is for a Program Analyst position in the Decennial Translation Branch located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line - Suitland Station.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and dissemination of non-English materials.
  • Resolve issues for non-English materials including press releases, webpages, conference presentations, speeches for executive staff, reports and survey questionnaires and interviewing materials.
  • Oversee the translation/language work of major survey and census instruments and materials.
  • Supervise subordinate staff and manage the development of non-English materials.
  • Plan, develop, and/or monitor budget activities for translation/language-related activities.

Current Career/Career Conditional U.S. Census Bureau Employee: This is a competitive temporary promotion opportunity not to exceed one year or 09/26/2020, whichever comes first with the possibility for extension at management's discretion.

Non-Current Career/Career Conditional U.S. Census Bureau Employee: This position will be filled as a Temporary Appointment not to exceed one year or 09/26/2020, whichever comes first with the possibility for extension at management's discretion.

A probationary period may be required.

A supervisory probation period may be required.

This position is ELIGIBLE for telework; additional criteria will be required (e.g., supervisory approval).

This is a NON-BARGAINING unit position.

Relocation expenses will not be paid.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: For the GG-14, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GG-13 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes:

Experience overseeing translation work and production of non-English materials. Experience planning/implementing major decennial census and survey operations for language- related activities, projects, and reports. Experience overseeing quality review of translated materials. Experience reviewing effectiveness of translated materials and developing recommendations based on such reviews. Experience leading teams or reviewing the work of others preparing non-English materials. Experience developing, using and interpreting budget information.

Education: Education cannot be substituted for experience.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
