The Vice President, Global Paid Media will lead Marriott International's paid media efforts around the world in collaboration with Global, Loyalty, Brand, and Continent marketing leadership. This role will lead Marriott's Paid Media center of excellence tasked with driving the organization's media efforts with a performance orientation to deliver greater scale coupled with more surgical targeting, better creative distinctiveness, break-thru new ideas, and ultimately better return on investment for the $450M+ in annual paid media investment around the world. This role will oversee all forms of addressable and non-addressable paid media including Paid Search, Meta-Search, Digital Display, Digital Video, Affiliates, Television, Connected-TV, Out of Home, In-Flight Entertainment, Media Sponsorships, and more.These efforts will grow awareness and consideration for Marriott International's 30+ hotel brands and the Marriott Bonvoy travel program, grow enrollments and deepen engagement for Marriott Bonvoy members, launch and grow new revenue streams for the company, and deliver more than $3.2B in hotel revenue through Marriott's direct booking channels.This role will manage global strategic media partnerships and will partner with other global, brand, and continent marketing and digital teams to execute fully integrated marketing efforts. This leader understands the rapidly changing marketing and media landscape with passion for continuously learning to keep pace with latest evolutions. This role will report to the SVP, Global Marketing Optimization, is a member of the Global Marketing leadership team, and will lead 100+ Marriott associates and agency team members in multiple locations around the world. This role can be based in Marriott's offices in Bethesda, MD, or New York, NY. CANDIDATE PROFILE Education and Experience Preferred .4-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, eCommerce/Digital, or related .15+ years of relevant professional experience in marketing, paid media, digital, brand or related function, demonstrating progressive career growth and pattern of exceptional performance .7+ years of managerial experience .Proven experience leading direct reports and large cross functional teams and agencies .Extensive knowledge and experience with all forms of paid media and advertising .Proven performance/direct-response/digital media and optimization experience .Demonstrated experience development large new strategies and leading their cross-functional implementation through an organization .Ability to solve problems quickly, think creatively, and satisfy Internet speed-to-market requirements .Thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment .Demonstrated experience and comfort with digital measurement, tracking methods, and analysis .Proven experience with complex, large budget and financial management .Proven ability to lead and work with cross-functional teams in support of specific business priorities .Demonstrates self-confidence, energy and enthusiasm .Effective written and oral communications skills.Sensitivity to global communication needs .Demonstrated strong presentation, negotiation, and persuasion skills .Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects .Global experience preferred .Travel Industry and multi-brand experience is a plus CORE WORK ACTIVITIES PAID MEDIA STRATEGY, OPTIMIZATION, & GLOBAL INTEGRATION .Guides the Paid Media Center of Excellence of Marriott associates and agency team members through the dedicated operating model developed in partnership with Publicis Media called Marriott One Media. .Drives culture of individual and collective accountability, supported by common KPI's and access to dashboards, that aligns to goals for individual brand/loyalty/continent teams and overall Marketing framework. .Guides the creation of marketing investment models to guide holistic and individual channel budget optimization while working with peers to clarify for what business imperatives should be solved via paid media vs owned and earned marketing platforms .Champions change to transition media measurement into a performance mindset that is near real-time, always-on, and always optimizing, augmented with more traditional long lead and lagging indicators. .Partners with Consumer Insights / Analytics and Marketing teams to establish consistent Marketing evaluation structures, dashboards, and quantifiable impact from all marketing activities. .Collaborates with senior leaders to ensure that the marketing strategy is fully integrated and designed to achieve KPIs such as brand health, loyalty metrics and revenue generation. .Leads Paid Media strategy & optimization team to guide full funnel in-market activities in collaboration with stakeholder groups, dedicated agency partner team, and continent media COE team members. .Oversees the integration of all paid global media buying that connects brand marketing, loyalty, and continent marketing to best leverage Marriott's organizational scale across the Marketing Strategy Framework. .Champions the transition to Audience Based media buying strategies and partner with Ad Tech team and agencies to activate strategies through all addressable media channels (Digital and Non-Digital). .Survey innovations in the marketplace in collaboration with Creative and Media agencies to recommend new opportunities (ex: targeted video), secures and approves campaign budgets. .Work cross-functionally with Measurement/Analytics team to identify business trends, KPIs, improve performance, and evolve the way Marriott measures online performance PROGRAMMATIC PAID MEDIA .Lead and grow all programmatic media programs designed to drive more than $3.2B in revenue to Marriott's direct channels while supporting other enterprise marketing goals. .Direct team that manages all aspects of the enterprise self-funded programs, Transaction Based Media Program (TBMP), Affiliate program, PLUS Platform media, including managing all financial, operational, technical, communication, and stakeholder management activities. .Direct the programmatic media team staffed from internal Marriott associates and Marriott One Media team members to execute seamlessly a single operating model that monitors daily performance and executes bidding optimization to maximize profitable growth. .Execute industry leading paid and meta search programs in more than 100+ source markets and 12+ languages with more than 10 Million keywords and audience-based bidding models. .Provide guidance to executional teams and manage executive relationships with global search engine (Google, Yahoo, Bing, Baidu, Yandex, etc.) and metasearch partners (Google, TripAdvisor, Trivago, Kayak, etc.) to find ways to improve return on investment and grow Marriott's share via new product innovations. .Proactively monitors and evaluates developments in the search engine landscape for implications to Marriott's search strategy. Directs the investigation of new areas and approaches as appropriate. .Clearly understands the competitive landscape and direct strategy to capitalize on strengths and counter competitive threats. Works with appropriate field stakeholders to help "pull through" online programs, as needed. Incubates new opportunities & channels for driving online demand & trial. Develop opportunities into enterprise programs as needed. Partners with Digital leadership to ensure total search strategy is executed in conjunction with Marriott's SEO team. Partners closely with leadership in Marriott's Distribution team to ensure paid media strategies are supportive of global distribution strategy MEDIA PLATFORMS & NEW SOLUTIONS Leads roadmap and innovation plans for Ad Tech and Proprietary media platforms (eg Bid Management, Plus Platform, Co-Op, etc.) in partnership with Personalization & Marketing Platforms team. Builds and executes Product and Marketing plan for proprietary PLUS platform to grow hotel participation and increase return on investment of all media efforts executed through the platform. Manages internal and external partner and vendors relationships for PLUS Platform. MEDIA OPERATIONS Manages all aspects of the relationship and ongoing operations with global media agency. Develops, implements, and socializes media innovation plans and industry relations. Oversees global media relationships and ongoing operations with Direct publisher partnerships Serves as Marriott industry spokesperson for Media industry relations while championing company position on improving industry standards (eg Brand Safety, Measurement, ) Ensures paid media strategic vision and work is understood and visible to the industry through a well-executed and managed learning agenda Identifies new paid media trends, platforms and practices and democratizes learnings across the company Develops and implements ongoing plans to improve operating model based on business case, stakeholder feedback, and industry opportunities. EXECUTIVE COMMUNICATION AND ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP .Frequently develop and deliver updates to all levels of Executives through in-person presentations, conference calls, and written communications. .Present strategy and optimization updates and results at key internal/external updates including: Continent forums, Executive updates, Owner/Franchisee meetings, etc. .Represent Marriott as an industry expert through presentations at internal and external conferences.
