Executive Assistant / Management Analyst I for Deputy City Manager The Overview The City of Alexandria's City Manager's Office is seeking a Executive Assistant / Management Analyst I to administratively assists our Deputy City Manager responsible for overseeing and facilitating the City's land use planning, zoning, historic preservation, transportation, environmental protection, code administration, capital project implementation, affordable housing, and museum functions. The candidate selected for this opportunity should possess a displayed knowledge, skill, and ability, within their application, to understand and communicate with City Council, elected officials, agency and department leaders; think strategically and make administrative level decisions on a variety of complex matters in support of the Deputy City Manager; as well as communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing. The Opportunity Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to track ongoing projects and their status, track and mitigate administrative based issues proactively, while serving as the organizational liaison on behalf the Deputy City Manager; Maintains a strong working knowledge of prioritization to effectively allocate time and resources appropriately on behalf of the Deputy City Manager; Develops and Integrates tech-forward systems to enhance the document management and digital utilization of the Deputy City Manager; Partner with fellow City Manager's Office staff to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of office operations and provide recommendations to increase productivity and coordination; Create, proofread, edit, and format a variety of documents, spreadsheets, reports and presentations, as well as direct the dissemination of internal and external communications of the Deputy City Manager with accuracy; Ensure the Deputy City Manager is prepared for all events by providing logistical and scheduling support while leading the development and accuracy of briefing material, talking points, etc; Responding to inquiries in person, via telephone, or email by directing the inquirer to the appropriate resource; Manages and implements special projects and various requests, including research and compiling and analyzing data; Performs other related duties as required. The Ideal Candidate To qualify for this position, all candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in public or business administration, and one year of experience in management analysis, customer services resolving end-user problems, or a closely-related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. About the City Manager's Office The City Manager's Office carries out the policy directives of the City Council and manages the daily operations of City government including oversees the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets, appoints all heads of departments and employees of the City , and its administrative staff oversees the preparation and review of all City Council docket items, requests, and Council Retreat materials.
