VMware EngineerDataBank's VMware Engineer is responsible for leading the architecture / design, build, maintenance and troubleshooting of both public and private cloud infrastructure and related systems. This is a senior technical leadership role that will assist the VP of Engineering in mentoring, coaching and evaluating the other engineering staff to ensure the department is meeting the company's goals and objectives.As a member of the engineering team, you will collaborate with other highly skilled technical staff who are responsible for engineering of the cloud compute, storage, backup and OS / application layers of DataBank's overall product stack and internal systems. This hands-on technical role will require daily interaction with cloud compute platforms and their related systems. This position's primary responsibilities will be to design systems and products for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining our diverse core infrastructure to meet and exceed the SLA requirements of the company as well as develop industry best practices and procedures for operation of a multi datacenter environment. Responsibilities: . Assist the VP of Engineering with personnel recruitment for the department. This may include working with recruiters, fielding candidates, interviewing candidates and providing feedback to the VP of Engineering.. Assist the VP of Engineering with the technical training, mentoring and coaching of existing engineering staff. Develop and cultivate strategic relationships that benefit the Engineering department and the organization.. Research and development of products based on market and technology needs. Research and development of new processes, procedures, and technologies that impact DataBank business operations and efficiencies. Assist with the deployment, implementation, and maintenance of diverse client systems including Windows, Linux, and VMware. Assist with the deployment, implementation, and maintenance of core infrastructure and services that continues to grow under DataBank's management. Understand client/stakeholder needs and create a coherent technology vision to meet/exceed their respective expectations.. Meet project deadlines and manage and prioritize multiple simultaneous projects while adhering to a time allocation model. Lead the design, implementation and maintenance of software.. Assess the scope and impact of incidents and respond, with a sense of urgency that matches the incident, following appropriate policies and procedures. Effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.. Manage through conflict and challenging situations with positive outcomes for the clients and company.. Make decisions and judgments based on standard procedures.. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, manage workload and adapt to changing business conditions.. Actively participate on the IT Leadership team, collaborating with peers on steady state as well as strategic direction.. Ability to create and communicate a clear business case justifying project, team, and technology costs.. Proactive, upbeat and collaborative communication style, with the ability to be direct, tactful, and transparent.. Provide continuous improvement regarding the quality of delivered services.. Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.. Proven track record to build of new public, private and hybrid cloud compute and storage infrastructure from POC to launch and provide ongoing maintenance. Develop and propose Managed Hosting standards and best practices for processes, procedures, and technical standards Secondary (as needed) responsibilities and duties include:. Assist clients with technical and troubleshooting design issues. Respond or be available immediately to any system failures, 24x7, after-hours or otherwise. Authentication/Identity Management, Patching/Package Management and standard technology stacks used in the industry today.. A wide spectrum of technologies which include but are not limited to: Enterprise Storage and Server Platforms, Linux servers, Collaboration, high availability solutions, and virtualization technologies.. Infrastructure components from key vendors including Cisco, Citrix, Dell, F5, HP, Juniper and Nimble.. Enterprise productization processes, including developing product guides, asset management, data protection, capacity management, performance management, and lifecycle management.. Heavy Automation experience. Enterprise System Management tools.. Active Directory Group Policies and LDAP authentication to include software deployment, security settings, and application settings.. Provide exceptional customer service via telephone, e-mail, and face-to-face Organizational Considerations:Candidates must have the ability to prioritize projects and/or tasks. This position requires work to be performed after business hours. On-Call is required on a rotational basis. In the case of outages, the candidate must be able to work alone or within a team environment until the problem is resolved. These events may or may not be during the normally scheduled on-call duty. Certifications, Education and Experience:. Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology and/or Computer Science preferred. Equivalent work experience can be substituted for college education.. Ten (10) plus years of experience designing, building, supporting and resolving complex issues in an enterprise-class cloud architecture in a mission-critical environment.. A minimum of five (5) years in an enterprise class VMware environment.. A minimum of five (5) years in CISCO UCS (Blade & Chassie).. A minimum of five (5) years enterprise-class experience with Nimble, Dell and/or NetApp storage arrays.. Certifications within the engineering discipline and IT industry (ITIL, CISSP, CCIE, MCSA/MCSE, RHCE, AWS Pro, VCAP, GCP and Azure certifications) are highly desired.. Intermediate Knowledge in Amazon Web services components including EC2, CloudFormation, S3, EBS, Cloudtrail. Deep understanding of cloud security concepts including Firewall, VPC's, Encryption, Authentication and Authorization (SSO, Active Directory/LDAP etc.) strategies. Additional experience with other major cloud providers including AWS, Google Cloud Platform and Azure highly desired. Experience with Third Party Cloud Automation, Platform Management and Cost management tools are highly desired. Enterprise productization processes, including developing product guides, asset management, data protection, capacity management, performance management, and lifecycle management.. Enterprise System Management tools.. Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, and SSL. Experience supporting an environment with multiple dependencies Benefits: .
