Job Summary The Assistant Tax Manager-Global Tax Accounting, reporting to the Senior Tax Manager - International Tax Accounting, will assist with the reporting of income taxes under the guidance of FASB Topic ASC 740. This position will be responsible for reporting of income taxes on a global basis including preparing and analyzing results and SEC reporting. Marriott International operates in over 100 countries and this position will be responsible for US GAAP tax accounting for various geographic regions. The Assistant Manager will coordinate and partner with Regional Finance and Tax personnel on business, accounting and income tax matters and support efforts to drive innovation and efficiency. EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS * Prepare analyses, schedules, reconciliations and disclosures for the financial reporting of income taxes in accordance with FASB ASC 740 * Maintain current and deferred tax schedules, return to provision reconciliations, and FIN 48 analysis * Maintenance of net operating loss carryover schedules to support deferred tax balances * Prepare reconciliation of tax accounts and maintain supporting documentation * Ensure compliance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes Oxley Act * Prepare tax rate and cash tax forecasts * Assist with research of issues and monitor change in tax law * Assist with the effort to re-engineer business processes and improve reporting functions performed by the tax accounting team including implementing technology * Champion excellence in business ethics and integrity, social responsibility, cross-cultural effectiveness, and associate engagement * Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs CANDIDATE PROFILE KEY TALENTS AND EXPERIENCE * Minimum of 3 years of income tax experience including experience in ASC 740 reporting, knowledge of ASC 740 (SFAS109, APB23, FIN18, FIN48) and SOX 404 * Strong business acumen and service orientation * Strong business process and project management skills; capable of developing effective project plans and processes, ensuring compliance with existing processes and producing quality results * Working knowledge of US GAAP accounting * Able to develop and maintain effective client relationships and promote a client service orientation that delivers customer results * Ability to work effectively in a collaborative work environment * Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to articulate issues to a variety of individuals at multiple levels within the organization * Comfort with challenging status quo to improve effectiveness * At ease in an environment of change; supports, manages, and initiates change within the organization * Demonstrates sound organizational and prioritization skills; high performance levels under tight deadlines * High degree of initiative, personal responsibility and integrity * Active learner - able to enhance personal, professional and business growth through new knowledge and experiences; pushes the organization to learn from other industries' standards and practices * Knowledge of PeopleSoft and OneSource Workflow Manager is a plus, but not required EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL CERITIFICATION * Baccalaureate degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline required * Masters in Tax and/or CPA a plus LOCATION * This position will be based at MI Corporate Headquarters.
