Our Emerging Technology team is looking for a Principal Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to help drive our ongoing blockchain initiatives. As a self-starter on a small and recently-formed team, you should be comfortable working in a near-start-up environment, preferably having done this before. Our team regularly works with other lines of business so you will be expected to develop healthy relationships with other teams as well. SDETs at Capital One are expected to understand all aspects of quality in the software development lifecycle, including an application's functional, usability, performance and security characteristics. This understanding will be developed as you work directly with Product Managers, Designers and Engineers on new and improved product features. You will build and implement testing frameworks, automated request replay systems, and front end to back end test suites. You will navigate our codebase to identify weak spots and design better ways to break our software and identify potential problems. Additionally, you will participate in decisions regarding the testing strategies and technologies we use with the understanding that we must find an appropriate balance of productivity, velocity, agility, and quality. Overall you'll have a huge impact on the quality of our emerging blockchain-based services. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with passionate professionals in the developer community within Capital One. You bring strong expertise in test-automation, white-box testing, AWS and other cloud platforms, and excellent communication skills. Responsibilities Be the voice of quality and advocate for maintaining a high quality bar. Ensure that quality and testing is ingrained in the engineering culture Work with Product and Engineering to write test plans for features and identify high-value areas to test Design, build, and manage test environments for testing blockchain applications on AWS Develop techniques to identify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks in blockchain apps Write Integration and Functional tests and manage the associated test data Contribute to design and architectural discussions and review product code for testability Help define success criteria for functional, performance, stress and stability tests Basic Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Military experience At least 8 years of experience in Software Engineering or QA Test Engineering At least 2 years of experience with AWS At least 2 years experience in scalability testing At least 1 year of experience with Container technology using Docker At least 1 year of experience working with Agile Development Practices At least 1 year of experience with Open Source CI/CD tools (Jenkins or Artifactory) At least 1 years of experience in at least one programming language (JavaScript, Python, Java, Golang) At least 1 years of experience in Unit, Integration and Functional testing strategies At least 1 years of experience using industry standard test automation tools and automation frameworks Preferred Qualifications Prior experience developing or testing block-chain applications is highly desired but not required At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.
