Responsibilities

This position will serve as a Crane Operator and the primary purpose of this position is to operate boom cranes and marine travel lifts in support of USCG activities within the Naval Engineering Support Units of the Industrial Operations Division.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

1. Operating rough terrain crane ( 55 ton with 110 foot boom), 50 metric ton travel lift.

2. Inspecting equipment and reports defects to supervisor.

3. Determining safe working loads and conditions and manipulates various controls in response to hand signals to move various equipment throughout the facility.

4. Performing refueling and routine maintenance of equipment, including oil and filter changes, tire repairs, and chassis and wire rope lubrication.

5. Operating gasoline and diesel powered forklifts to move pilings, buoys, heavy equipment and materials.

6. Using and training others on miscellaneous rigging equipment such as cable, cloth slings, strongbacks and spreaders to lift, move, and position antennas, small engines, crated material etc.
