The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) is seeking qualified IT professionals for the position of Enterprise Cloud Systems Administration Manager (Program Manager IV). This enterprise-level position within MDOT's Office of Transportation Technology Services is responsible for the first-line oversight of cloud-based applications/systems activity that spans a variety of cloud computing models, including Software as a Service (SaaS), Data as a Service (DaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Business Process as a Service (BPaaS).

The Enterprise Cloud Systems Administration Manager oversees ongoing cloud computing operations and service delivery across MDOT's six subsidiary agencies (the Maryland Transportation Authority, the MDOT Motor Vehicle Administration, the MDOT State Highway Administration, the MDOT Maryland Transit Administration, the MDOT Maryland Aviation Administration and the MDOT Maryland Port Administration). Specific roles of the Enterprise Cloud Systems Administration Manager include, but are not limited to: overseeing the configuration and maintenance of cloud systems; managing cloud services and deployments to sandbox environments; ensuring that cloud systems and applications remain compliant with security standards; and working collaboratively with the other members of the Enterprise Cloud Services management team to execute smooth transitions in cloud services from the development/implementation to operations/maintenance stages.

This position will be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to respond to outages or other emergency situations.

The current vacancy exists at MDOT TSO in Glen Burnie, MD (Anne Arundel County). This position will also report to Hanover, MD (Anne Arundel County) when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other IT-related field. 

Experience: Five years of professional cloud computing experience in software application development and/or systems administration, to include at least three years of experience supervising technical professionals in information technology.  

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Cloud computing experience utilizing Microsoft (MS) Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, Salesforce, AWS or related platforms  
  • Experience with the architecture, design and solutions development
  • Experience in proven project management and/or systems analysis methodologies
  • Experience in evaluating internal processes and testing in order to improve operational efficiencies
  • Excellent customer service and problem solving skills 
  • One or more certification credentials such as MS Certified Azure Administrator, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or Salesforce Administrator.

2. U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as described under the Preferred Qualifications is considered qualifying experience on a year-for-year basis.
